No One Gets Out Alive is pretty good as far as bad horror movies go.
While its ultimately weighed down by a long generic middle act, that does little to tell an interesting story, the lead acting from Cristina Rodlo and Marc Menchaca is solid, and the general intrigue is enough, where it should be able to keep you around until things get crazy towards its end.
The film doesn’t do itself favors early on, and tries to rush some immediate scares that come across as forced and cheesy. (albeit sets proper expectations for many of filler scenes to follow)
No One Gets Out Alive is at it’s best whenever haunted cgi/makeup people aren’t around. Fortunately, when it comes to overall runtime, they aren’t.
The acting, along with the story’s overarching mystery, should help you make it to the final third of the movie, where things ramp up in a variety of ways, and at which point you become along for the ride, however uneven and odd that overall ride may be.
The story itself, while often bland in the moment, becomes more interesting to examine once you’re done with it, and can piece together what it was you just watched.
If you just want to an imperfect middle of the pack horror film, there are much worse options out there than No One Gets Out Alive.
